Technology is something that has interested me a long time. This is mainly to do with my obsession with James Cameron’s Terminator films. I watched them at a young age, and the idea of a robot skeleton really intrigued me. They are my favourite films because they show the importance of humanity and that we rely on Technology too much. I also grew up watching other 80’s Sci-Fi films such as Robocop, Aliens, Predator, The Running Man and Blade Runner.
I hate technology, as I could never buy something without it not working. My first MP3 player refused to work for me for nearly a year. My home computer didn’t let me use the USB ports, and I have had a lot of phone troubles in my life. I usually look after my stuff, but when something didn’t work after weeks of looking forward to it, I sometimes threw my items at a wall.
Finally, these problems do not persist me anymore. All the technology I have now works fine.
During the last summer holidays, our TV at home finally broke down after around ten years. My parents wanted to immediately get rid of the TV, but I was more reluctant. There have been so many good times I have spent with the TV, such as running home from school to watch all the cartoon’s that I loved as a child.
This made me think that technology is not treated like we treat ourselves. If a family member becomes old and of less use, we don’t get them replaced. This got me thinking of the following question. If technology were to bleed, would we treat it differently? If a piece of technology was to bleed, like a human, instead of getting a new one, you would fix it like a human. A story that shows this could be quite interesting.
